Pictures, Videos and a huge thank you
Thank you all for making our day so special. It meant an incredible amount to us that so many of our very good friends turned up and that even more had sent messages of support. Thank you!
It was also absolutely wonderful all the help that was given to moving things around and generally making the day easy for us.
We are hoping to set up a Flikr site (or something similar) to take the wedding pictures and will email the link out if we get around to it!
For a start though (and for those who couldn't make the day) here is a
video of our vows taken by Peter Wigglesworth (Liam's uncle).
Festival in the park just moments from the wedding
In a moment of both slight joy and slight sorrow I discovered that Walpole park has been taken out of photo action by a comedy festival.
Our wedding day's celebrations are looking to finish at 9-9:30ish although there is a comedy show on at 8pm which could be of interest to one or two all-nighters!
http://www.londontown.com/LondonEvents/EalingComedyFestival/9dad0 is the link you are (not yet) looking for.
The central line is unhelpfully going to be out of action on Saturday
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/unlinked/tube-posters/july06/bakerloo-regents-park.pdf informs us gently that transport for london has, in its infinite wisdom, decided to close down the central line out to ealing on the 15th of July.
We'd recommend taking the picadilly to northfields instead
or
Getting a train to west ealing/ealing broadway (they depart regularly from paddington, amongst other places)
or
Flying on home made wings*
or
Taking the district line to ealing broadway and trekking across to the church (or taking any bus west along the uxbridge road)
Whichever way you get here we are really looking forward to seeing you!

Marriage counselling is wonderful!
We are not even married yet and already Becca and I have been to have marriage counselling...
Before Will Donaldson, our vicar, would marry us he wanted to make sure that we knew what we are doing (which of course we don't - but we are ready to find out) so he arranged two pre-marriage sessions to make sure we had talked through some of the things which if left untouched could become show-stoppers.
To my surprise, we enjoyed this a lot and it was incredibly helpful to be able to talk through emotions with a third person who could provide outside perspective... It is totally unrelated to the logistics that you may be concerned with, but relationship counselling is a fantastic thing
Moving tables
In the way that the world of Becca and Liam works - on the day we have decided to make things simple for ourselves by using exactly the same area of the church for all activities:
- getting married
- eating
- dancing and more eating
This means that there will be a few short moments of semi-chaos when chairs are being moved/stacked and tables are in the process of being raised/collapsed.
To make the day wonderfully easy for us it would be nice if you could help in one of two ways:
- For those who are fit and able - a helping hand moving one or two things would be wonderful
- For those who do not enjoy the idea of moving things and general chaos - if you could pretend that nothing at all is amiss as tables and chairs are madly flying around, then that would also be great
We are getting quite excited about everything and are really looking forward to getting married and hosting our friends in a big celebration of our mutual commitment :-)
Warning of chaos!
This is just a gentle warning that it may be a little chaotic on our wedding day as the church is transforming from a church to a dinning area and then into a dance floor... Meaning lots of chairs/tables will be being moved all over the place :-)
We are hoping to make sure that people are generally away from the chaos while all this is happening, but we can't guarantee that it will work! ;-)
Pictures and memories of the day
One thing that we are very exicited about is the number of our friends with digital cameras now...
We are so excited that we are strongly encouraging you to bring your cameras (and a connecting lead) and we will try and set up a laptop to be ready to download your pictures. We strongly recommend charged cameras, but will bring one or two common spare batteries in case of emergencies.
If you think this is an insane idea - do tell us!
Amusing Times - The Voyage of eating discovery
Being as we love our friends and relations dearly we were hoping to be able to feed the entire world, unfortunately unlike the band aid song we were unable to get away with such a cheeky message as the rooms are a little small to fit everyone in to eat.
So we have made families a high priority and have sent "eating invitations" out to nearly everyone who is eating now...
If you have not received an eating invitation then we are trying to set up the day to make sure that you know that you're loved too and are hoping to delay the speeches until a set time so that everyone can share in the embarrassment of the speeches together.
So, while others are eating in between photos and speeches, here are one or two things that you might like to do:
1. (and my preferred option) If it is sunny, then there are some absolutely
wonderful parks in Ealing which would be perfect for a picnic - I was veto'd on my original plan to have one giant picnic and no sit down eating at all.
2. If it is not sunny (or you don't like to eat grass with your sandwiches) then there are a number of enjoyable restaurants along the
Uxbridge road, which you may like to book or just rock up and enjoy (there are more on
Northfields Avenue)
3. Set up a protest outside the church shouting abuse at me for my lack of organisational ability (not recommended - you will be hoarse by the time the dancing comes :-)
15th of July - We would love you to be there!
This will be changed later but at the moment we are just very excited about getting married and think that anyone who would like to be there (and can be there) should be there :-)
